Google and Fidelity investing $1 billion into SpaceX

SpaceX has very ambitious projects in its board. One of them includes offering satellite internet to areas where it would otherwise be hard to connect to the web. Of course, this caught Google’s eye, who is actually planning to do something similar, except using balloons.

This is a collective struggle to get the world online, so Google and Fidelity have decided to invest $1 billion in SpaceX, giving them just under 10% of the company.

Opinion: We are not sure what this investment will bring, directly, but Google is now an important partner in this effort. After all, the Search Giant just wants to get everyone online, right? That’s how they make money.
