New users can get 3 months of Spotify Premium for just $0.99 (US only)

Spotify is hoping to attract new users in the US, and is prepared to pay up to show them just how good its Premium service is.

For a limited time, new US-based users can sign up for Spotify Premium for just 99 cents for the first three months.

Spotify Premium gives you full access to Spotify’s massive tunes catalog with no ads or promo interruptions, higher bitrate playback, and the ability to download music on your devices for offline listening. Normally, Premium costs $9.99/mo., while students with an .edu address pay half that price.

The problem is this deal only applies to completely new subscribers. So if you’ve signed up for a Premium subscription before or if you took the one-month free trial, you can’t sign up for this promo. That means that pretty much everyone who’s into Spotify is ruled out from the start.

The workaround is to create a new account, and given the great value, it looks like the effort is worth it.
